Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

The interview process was pretty standard for buy-side roles. The initial rounds were heavy on behavioral and stock/industry-specific questions. The second and third rounds involved a case study where I had to present and justify my investment recommendation.

Behavioral Technical

The interview process for this role typically involves several stages that can extend over a few weeks, so be prepared for a time commitment. The interviews themselves are usually pretty good, with interviewers who are professional and seem to think carefully about their questions. However, a big downside is that if you don't get the job, they don't give you any feedback, which can be tough after you've put in so much effort. Most of the interviews are online, which is convenient. But, the whole experience could be a lot better if they were more upfront and helpful with communication about why you were rejected or selected.

Behavioral Technical Case

The interviewers for the process improvement leader position are other employees with the same position with a tenure of 6 to 9 months, without an HR background. The pre-screening is the usual tell me about yourself and why you are interested in the role. The second one-hour interview is longer and a broader approach where they want to get insights about project implementation, how to deal with stakeholders that are resisting change due to new technologies, and a last logic problem where they want to see your step-by-step approach to get the solution.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Regarding dealing with resistance to changes in project implementation, how do you persuade them?
  • What initiative for a process improvement did you suggest, and was it implemented?

Behavioral Presentation

So the whole process took about a month, and there were 4 interviews in total, one each week. The interviews were with other higher-level process improvement leaders, except for the first one, which was an HR screening. Everything was done virtually over Google Meets and each lasted an hour. They asked a lot of the same questions in interviews 2 and 3 with different people, which makes me think maybe they could combine interviewers to shorten the process. All the interviews were really focused on behavioral questions about handling tough stakeholder situations, getting people on board, and presenting to upper management.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Can you share an instance where you had to influence someone's thinking to align with yours?
  • What's your approach to managing difficult stakeholders?
