I applied online and then got a text back the same day asking me to come into their office to complete the application. I thought I had completed it already, but okay. Their office was in Kent, about 30 minutes away from my house by car, which is a bit of a trip. I asked if any of the application could be done remotely. The recruiter said part of it can be, but that I would still have to come in to be drug-tested. This is where things started to go off the rails for me. I had not even arranged an interview or received details about where in Seattle this job was located, and the recruiter wants me to come in for a urine drug test. No way! At this point in the process, I have no idea if I even want to work at the place. I was not going to spend an hour of my time on the road, unpaid to jump through hoops for a job I haven't even interviewed for. The kicker was when I tried looking up the name of the recruiter on social. All I found was a profile with the same (very unique) name in a neighboring city, with no picture and no job history. This struck me as extremely odd for a recruiter whose industry demands a presence on job sites. This just raised even more questions about Elwood. At first, they just seemed like the typical crappy recruiters who treat applicants like they already work for them. Now, I'm wondering if they run a half-baked scam to harvest blue-collar urine samples. Either way, I don't need to find out first hand.

There were four interviews and a test. It started with a half-hour phone screen. Then I was supposed to have a conference call with the hiring manager and the initial screener, but the manager didn't show up, so it ended up being over an hour. The next day, I had to call the manager, and we spoke for another hour about typical interview questions. After that, I had to take a Scantron test, which, including travel, took 2.5 hours. I was told the test went well and I'd hear back by Friday. When I didn't hear anything by Friday afternoon, the manager emailed my references at 5 PM without calling them. On Monday, they scheduled another interview, an in-person one. After that, they said I'd hear back by Friday and confirmed this deadline in an email. Friday passed with no word, and on Saturday, I got an email saying they chose another candidate. The job was attractive, but the process wasn't.

The process was pretty simple. I applied online and then gave them a call to schedule my interview. When I got there, I had to fill out two forms. After that, I watched a video called "Reason to Success." Once the video finished, they took me to the interview, which had about five questions. A few pointers: 1. Be respectful and dress casually, but make sure your casual outfit is clean. 2. Do a little research on the company. 3. Pay close attention to the video, as they'll ask questions about it during the interview.

I applied for the Staffing Manager position by submitting my resume and filling out an online application. The Branch Manager called me in for an interview. After that, I took a personality test. A few days later, I interviewed with the Regional Manager. Finally, I had interviews with the office staff. After speaking with everyone, I completed an IQ test focused on verbal reasoning and math. A few days after finishing everything, the Branch Manager let me know I got the job. Following the verbal offer, I received a written offer, signed a non-compete agreement, gave three references, and completed a pre-hire drug screen and background check.
