MLOps Engineer
It was a 3 round process: 2 tech rounds and an HR round. The tech rounds involved a coding problem covering topics like brute force, binary searching, arrays, heaps, or trees. There was also an ML question about choosing and justifying a model, plus questions about your projects and any internship experience.
- What model would you choose for classifying aerial images, and can you explain your reasoning?
- Could you solve a coding problem involving brute force, binary search, arrays, heaps, or trees?
- Which machine learning model would you select for a given task, and what's the justification behind your choice?
Senior Director, User Experience
Applied and then heard nothing for four weeks. Got an email for an IQ/Personality test which I took the same day. Emailed after taking it, heard nothing, emailed again a couple weeks later, heard nothing. Finally heard back after a 'one last try' follow-up email. Had an HR screening that went well. About a week later, received an invite to talk with the Hiring Manager, who was terrific. He said they'd be in touch with next steps. A week later, I had an invite for team interviews the following week. This is over 2 months after applying. The interviews were canceled a couple hours before they were supposed to start because they made an offer to someone else who accepted that morning. The recruiter did email to explain the cancellation. It really felt like I was always just an insurance policy in case they couldn't get their first choice. The recruiter's communication was mostly absent and inconsistent when it did happen. It felt unprofessional. I don't blame the firm, seems like great people and a cool industry, but the experience was negative. This is constructive criticism.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
Regional Account Manager
This company posts fake job openings on LinkedIn for roles like Remote Regional Account Manager and Remote Inside Sales Rep. If you apply for the Regional Account Manager position, they'll tell you in the screening call that the job isn't actually remote and is based in Washington state. They also mention that all reps start as Inside Sales reps to get their foot in the door and that the company is just trying to recruit a diverse candidate pipeline. This is unethical and dishonest, wasting candidates' time, especially in this tough job market. It's taking advantage of people. Shame on them!
- Do you have any questions for me before we start?
Software Engineer
So it was an on-campus drive, and it started with an online test that included a UCAT (aptitude and personality test with 40 questions). The online test itself had 2 coding questions, one easy and one average. After the UCAT and online test, they shortlisted students for 3 rounds of technical interviews. Each of these interviews was of average difficulty. A key thing during your interview is your resume, no matter what position they are hiring for. The difficulty of the questions really depends on the interviewer. Unfortunately, I didn't get selected. I didn't clear the second round, so I wasn't scheduled for the third.
- Regarding the on-campus drive and online coding test with UCAT, can you explain what a merkel tree is?
- Can you elaborate on the project mentioned in your resume?
- Please explain encryption and decryption, perhaps using the alice and bob scenario.
