The interview process was long! I interviewed for a specialty buyer role, basically in-house at Herman Miller, that would specifically help source independent artists to add to Design Within Reach’s ecomm space. My first interview went well, but then it took them 3 weeks to reach out and schedule the follow-up. I made it to the final round. The company ended up restructuring the role to be based out of a different office, so the offer was rescinded unless I moved! All in all, from my first interview in June to my rescinded offer in October, I wasted almost 3 1/2 months of my time!

The interview process was very straightforward. It's important to be familiar with the brands DWR carries. Since it's a luxury brand, dress professionally for the interview. For this role, emphasize your strong organizational and communication abilities, as you'll be providing behind-the-scenes support to the entire team.

Applied online. HR contacted me for a phone screen. Then I had an onsite interview with the manager. The onsite took about 45 minutes. They asked basic questions about me, whether I could work well with the 'close' team, and if I was alright with the pay (it was lower than I expected). The manager mentioned the pay scale would increase to match market rates and the role's needs, compared to lesser designer brands. HR followed up via email. I got an offer after that.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process was very disorganized and unprofessional. Constant follow-up on my end to, of course, confirm my interest in the position but also because there was very minimal communication with the regional. 1st Teams interview was with another General Manager, 2nd Teams interview was with the Regional Manager. I sent a follow-up email and waited almost 2 weeks for a response, received an email stating I haven't been forgotten about and to see if I could have an additional phone interview the next day. The phone interview the next day discussed salary expectations, benefits and also wanted to know if I could interview with another regional manager and would confirm the time later that same day. I received a text message to confirm the time 3 days later. The third Teams interview was scheduled at 8 PM with the other regional who was very rude and made me feel completely incompetent for the role. He also asked me if we discussed salary expectations, which we did, and he then told me I would never receive what I was asking however I didn't ask for any amount, I was told that was the amount of salary for that particular location. I then waited another week to hear back, send another follow-up email to the regional to again, confirm my interest, and see if there was any update in the hiring process. Crickets... There is a lot of miscommunication in this company and the interview process was a joke.
