The interview was done through Microsoft Teams, and you can schedule it yourself which offers a lot of flexibility. They asked a mix of behavioral and strength-based questions. The job description already listed the behavioral questions, so you could prepare well for those. The strength-based questions weren't listed beforehand, but they're pretty straightforward to answer.

Behavioral Technical

First, there was an application form where I had to write a 500-word personal specification about myself, using the STAR method to show one of the required behaviours. After that, I had an online Judgement test. It was timed for 20 minutes and had 40 questions. For each question, there were about 6 or 7 responses to choose from, so it was pretty fast. The timer was visible and counted down. Some questions were easy, but others needed a bit more thought.

First, there's a customer service skills test. Your score on this test will decide if you move on. After that, you'll fill out your personal info and write a 250-word paragraph about a time you provided excellent service. If you pass both, you'll get invited to an interview with two people from your department. In this interview, you'll need to talk about times you managed quality service, communicated and influenced others well, and made smart decisions. You'll be scored out of 7 for each of your answers.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

So, for a DWP Executive Officer role, the interview is kinda multi-stage to see if you're a good fit. First, you gotta do the online application and write a personal statement where you really lay out your skills and experience, making sure it matches the job's main requirements. Then, there might be some online tests like verbal, numerical, situational judgment, or strengths-based ones – they're meant to be fair and objective. After that, you'll probably have a video interview, could be live with a panel or pre-recorded where you answer questions yourself. Make sure your internet is good and your camera/mic work! The interview itself usually has a panel of people asking questions, often based on Civil Service behaviours and what the EO job needs. They usually suggest using the STAR method for answers. If you get through, they'll do some checks like right to work, DBS, and employment history. It's super important to know the Civil Service behaviours and practice answering questions, plus really focus on how your experience fits the essential criteria. Good prep is key!
