First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DayBlink Consulting.
Partner
I met with several current partners. We talked about my skills, my existing client base, and my future sales goals. I also visited the office and met different staff members. I had to present a 30-60-90 day plan.
- Can you describe the typical client engagements you typically sell and manage?
Consultant
The interview process consists of two main parts: an executive presentation and a behavioral interview. The executive presentation is similar to a case interview but involves tedious tasks like creating a PowerPoint presentation. There weren't many actual case questions, but there was a math question. You're given 1.5 hours to research a topic, create content for a 9-12 slide presentation, build the deck, and practice. If you're more technical, this might not be the best way to assess your skills. If you can build a deck quickly, you'll likely do well. Give yourself ample time to build the deck because the tasks are tedious. The behavioral interview is pretty standard and straightforward. Keep in mind this is a small firm with small firm problems, so being able to help put a deck together last minute is important to them. While they seem to have good culture, they repeatedly mentioned working long hours (10+ hour days). They want to hire people who can help grow the business and expect you to assist with whatever needs to be done. They don't have a diversity and inclusion strategy, and it's not a priority for them; they think having a minority CEO makes them diverse, but it doesn't.
- Tell me about your leadership experience.
- How do you handle conflict?
- Describe your personality.
Intern
I went through a couple of phone interviews. The HR person called me back and said everything was great and they loved me, but they couldn't make me an offer. When I asked why, they told me to call back in 2 months to reapply and start the process over. It was weird and the lack of clarity was a turn off.
- Tell me about your biggest disappointment in life.
Analyst
The interview was pretty good overall. The recruiter and HR team were great, friendly, and timely. I went through 4 rounds of phone/video interviews, and 2 of those included case studies. All the interviewers were down-to-earth and supportive. My last interview was with the Managing Director, which was my only negative experience. Halfway through, I could tell he wasn't giving me his approval. It seemed that one person's disapproval outweighed all the previous approvals, which was disappointing. The recruiter and HR team were very helpful throughout the process, making them your best point of contact!
