Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DayBlink Consulting.
Consultant
Dayblink recruiters screened students on campus at a university. The interview process consisted of formal one-on-one interviews, and a casual group social event at a nearby restaurant. The interviewers were nice, smart, and acted professionally. The questions asked were pretty typical, focusing on your past experiences and how you approach solving problems.
- Can you detail your summer work experiences?
- Could you describe your on-campus work experiences?
- Walk me through how you approach problem-solving.

The interview process consists of two main parts: an executive presentation and a behavioral interview. The executive presentation is similar to a case interview but involves tedious tasks like creating a PowerPoint presentation. There weren't many actual case questions, but there was a math question. You're given 1.5 hours to research a topic, create content for a 9-12 slide presentation, build the deck, and practice. If you're more technical, this might not be the best way to assess your skills. If you can build a deck quickly, you'll likely do well. Give yourself ample time to build the deck because the tasks are tedious. The behavioral interview is pretty standard and straightforward. Keep in mind this is a small firm with small firm problems, so being able to help put a deck together last minute is important to them. While they seem to have good culture, they repeatedly mentioned working long hours (10+ hour days). They want to hire people who can help grow the business and expect you to assist with whatever needs to be done. They don't have a diversity and inclusion strategy, and it's not a priority for them; they think having a minority CEO makes them diverse, but it doesn't.
- Tell me about your leadership experience.
- How do you handle conflict?
- Describe your personality.
Consultant
The recruiting and interview process was impressive. I spoke with the CEO, CFO, a couple of directors, and a senior consultant. There were about 5 interviews in total, conducted over the phone and in person. The interviewers were friendly and seemed genuinely interested in learning about my background and why I wanted to join DayBlink.
- There were two case study questions from a senior consultant, one being a brain teaser and the other a formal business case. They really cared about the back-and-forth, so don't be shy about asking questions. The company takes these very seriously, so prep is essential and make sure you have frameworks ready.
- The other questions were standard behavioral and background questions. The company values authentic answers, so don't try too hard to impress. Just be yourself, as that's what they like!
