First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Davis Polk.
Summer Associate
The interview process was straightforward and easy. It involved one initial screener followed by a callback. The questions asked were generally easy. The interviewers were very organized, friendly, and professional. The callback interview felt much like the screener, but it could be a chance to really stand out if you're on the borderline. Ultimately, grades are the most important factor. My first-semester GPA was excellent, but my second-semester grades dropped, which was a deciding factor. My GPA went from a 3.8 to a 3.5, and I didn't attend a T14 school.
- What practice areas spark your interest the most?
Front Desk Receptionist
It was an easy and smooth process. The interviewer was focused on making the best decision for the company. The whole atmosphere was great. The interview progression was a wholesome experience and keyed into getting more insights for my next phase of life.
- What are your long-term career aspirations over the next five years?
Practice Resource Specialist
I went through a few interviews with some higher-up legal folks and HR people. They were all really professional, and I picked up a lot about the company. Didn't end up getting an offer, probably because I didn't prep enough.
- How do you deal with stress
Legal Assistant
The interviewer was really unorganized and kept forgetting the role I was interviewing for. They also interrupted me a lot when I was trying to answer. They never got back to me after I asked my own questions. I'm not interested in this role anymore, especially since they mentioned needing 250 hours of overtime per month on top of regular hours and wouldn't discuss compensation. It was a really messy process overall.
- Can you tell me about your past work experiences?
- Are you able to work late nights?
- Do you have the ability to handle stressful situations?
