First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Davis Polk.
Legal Assistant
The interviewer was really unorganized and kept forgetting the role I was interviewing for. They also interrupted me a lot when I was trying to answer. They never got back to me after I asked my own questions. I'm not interested in this role anymore, especially since they mentioned needing 250 hours of overtime per month on top of regular hours and wouldn't discuss compensation. It was a really messy process overall.
- Can you tell me about your past work experiences?
- Are you able to work late nights?
- Do you have the ability to handle stressful situations?
Corporate Paralegal
Right after a quick phone chat, they set up the interview. It was pretty straightforward, not too tough. When I got to their office, I had to talk to three different hiring managers, one after the other. The whole thing took about 2 hours. I heard back about two weeks later.
- What made you decide to pursue a career in law?
- What are your reasons for wanting to live and work in NYC?
- Could you share some details about your time at X College?
Paralegal
The process was pretty straightforward. First, I chatted with the paralegal manager who asked some typical interview questions. After that, I was set up to talk with a current paralegal to go over the job details more. Everyone was nice and professional, and the work environment seems good.
- What is your motivation for pursuing a career in law?
- What led you to select your major?
- What makes you interested in this specific role?
