Started with a recruiter call, then a technical exam that tested python and SQL without direct interaction. After that, a technical interview with a team lead and another data engineer that was conversational and collaborative. Finally, a behavioral/partner interview that felt like a formality but was a good chat. They offered me a position, but the salary was $15,000 lower than the initial range, and they said they couldn't budge.

I went through about 5-6 rounds of interviews for an Associate Analytics Consultant position at DAS42, with a salary range of 60-70k USD. The interview steps included a phone screen, a coding test, an analysis of a Looker dashboard, and a panel interview. For me, as an international student needing visa sponsorship, it was a letdown. They rejected me mid-process without any feedback, and it seems like a lot of my colleagues got the same mass rejection. It would've been way better if DAS42 had just been upfront about their sponsorship policy from the start, saving me a lot of time and hassle. I'd say this company is good for domestic students, but if you're an international student needing sponsorship, definitely check their policy first before diving in, 'cause the same thing happened to my seniors last year.

Behavioral Coding Case Technical Presentation

I went through the interview process for the Associate Analyst role back in Jan/Feb 2022. There were 5 rounds in total: first, a behavioral interview, then a coding challenge, followed by an analytics project where I had a week to complete it using Looker to analyze sales data, create visualizations, and a slideshow for business intelligence. After that, there was a live relational database challenge where they gave me a business case to create a database diagram for while they watched and gave tips. Finally, I had to defend my analytics project, where the interviewer poked holes in my work and I had to defend it and accept criticism.

  • Over the course of one week, utilize Looker to address a simulated business scenario by analyzing sales data, generating data visualizations, and compiling a slideshow for business intelligence.

It was a long process, and the company's communication was inconsistent. They initially stated there would be 3 interviews, but ended up conducting 3 more. Right before the final 15-minute interview, which was presented as a meet and greet, they verbally indicated an offer was forthcoming. However, after this final interview, they rejected the candidate. This could be due to dissatisfaction with the candidacy or salary expectations, but the main issue was the manipulation of candidate expectations.
