First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DAS42.
Analyst
I went through the interview process for the Associate Analyst role back in Jan/Feb 2022. There were 5 rounds in total: first, a behavioral interview, then a coding challenge, followed by an analytics project where I had a week to complete it using Looker to analyze sales data, create visualizations, and a slideshow for business intelligence. After that, there was a live relational database challenge where they gave me a business case to create a database diagram for while they watched and gave tips. Finally, I had to defend my analytics project, where the interviewer poked holes in my work and I had to defend it and accept criticism.
- Can you tell us about yourself, why you want to work at DAS42, and why this role is a good fit for you?
- HankerRank questions: SQL and Python.
- Over the course of one week, utilize Looker to address a simulated business scenario by analyzing sales data, generating data visualizations, and compiling a slideshow for business intelligence.
Analyst
So, first there was a hr interview, then a tough tech screening, and then a data viz assessment using looker. The first and last parts were easy, but the tech screen was hard. It felt like nonsense for the pay, with questions as hard as Facebook's. It's like they want you to work like a data engineer but pay you minimum wage.
- SQL and Python assessment questions were asked.
Analyst
So I applied and they called me in for this first interview to see if my career goals matched up with the job. Then, I got this take-home SQL and Python test that covered basic and advanced queries (like CTEs) and looping. After that, they gave me access to a Looker instance where I had to create a report for a fake eCommerce company. Basically, I had to figure out who to target with ads, when, and what products. Once that was done, I had the final round interviews with a bunch of people from the company. Each interview was a little different, with some standard behavioral questions about dealing with tough clients or working alone versus in a team.
- If you were to start a company, what kind would it be?
- What data would you gather to help your company meet its objectives?
- What methods would you use for data collection?
