First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dandy (NY).
Operations Manager
Started with a phone screen that was really informative and enthusiastic. Next up was a two-part round: a SQL exercise on Codesignal, followed by a 30-minute virtual interview with the hiring manager. Unfortunately, the hiring manager was really unprofessional – seemed unprepared, was a bit disheveled, and was picking stuff out of her teeth, which immediately made me lose interest. I didn't like her interview style at all. It felt like she hadn't prepared any questions and was just asking whatever came to mind. She interrupted me a few times and would randomly decide to 'pivot' mid-conversation to a totally different topic. I only had about 2 minutes at the end to ask my questions. I managed to ask one, got a rushed answer, and then the call ended. I was really excited about Dandy before this, but the experience definitely soured me on the role.
- What's your definition of quality?
Business Development Representative
The interview process had three rounds. It started with a phone screen, then a chat with the BDR manager. After that, there was an in-person shadow session and a mock call. I got there at 9 am and just had to sit in their lounge area for about 30 minutes while everyone else was working. Then the shadowing part began, where I watched a BDR make a phone call. Next was the mock call, which is always a bit weird to do in person. Overall, it was a really uncomfortable experience, and I also had to pay $70 for parking.
- What makes you want to work at Dandy?
Software Engineer
The interview process at Dandy is excellent and well-crafted. It reflects their core value of moving at Speed. They conduct interviews quickly and make decisions promptly. It was a refreshing experience without unnecessary delays. While quick, the process is deliberate and not careless. There are several interviews, including a coding challenge where passing all unit tests is crucial, a data modeling and systems architecture discussion, a deep dive into past projects, and a review of previous employment, focusing on reasons for hiring, accomplishments, areas for improvement, and reasons for leaving. Dandy maintains a high hiring bar, which worked out well for me.
- Thinking about your past roles, can you share for each: the reason you were hired, your key accomplishments, aspects you could have improved, and why you departed?
Revenue Operations Director
The interview process had some ups and downs. The first three interviews were pretty good, felt conversational and well-executed, though some of the male interviewers had a bit of an ego. But the final round presentation was a letdown. The head of operations, who was supposed to lead the questioning, seemed disengaged, looking at other screens and clearly busy with other tasks. He didn't ask any questions about my presentation, which was really not okay.
- Can you detail how you would address typical Revenue Operations challenges?
- Share specific instances from your past work that demonstrate how you'd solve standard RevOps issues.
