First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dan Murphy's.
Sales Assistant
Dan Murphy's did the interview as a video call, it felt robotic and emotionless, I didn't feel comfortable not talking to a person and I think they used AI. They offered me a second interview, but the link did not work and I found out hours later they rejected me. Not sure why they said I was on to round two and then rescinded it. Also, I don't get why it's so hard to get a job stacking shelves.
- Tell me about a challenge you faced and how you got past it.
Sales Associate
It was a pretty standard interview. They asked some basic customer service questions, then we did a store walkthrough. They gave me the offer right after the interview. It was just with one interviewer, which was good.
- Can you share an instance where you delivered exceptional customer service?
Merchandiser Coordinator
The interview process started off great. I got to chat with the person currently in the role, and we had a really good, lively conversation with some insightful questions. After that, I moved on to the second and third interviews, which were also conducted professionally with relevant questions and discussions. However, the communication after the final interview was pretty bad. It took almost a month to get any update, and even after following up a bunch, I didn't hear back until I tried one last time – that's when I finally got a message about the outcome. So, while the interviews themselves were solid, the lack of quick and clear communication afterwards didn't leave a good impression.
- If you could change one thing about the Store, what would it be?
Customer Assistant
The interview was pretty chill, like a regular chat. Two people were interviewing me, one I was talking to directly and another was to my side, taking notes. It was a bit unexpected because they were really asking about my life outside of work, like if I played sports, which I thought was weird. They did say that 'sporty people do better here,' which was odd considering I'm a woman and the store seemed to only have male staff working when I interviewed.
- What are your hobbies or what do you do when you're not working?
- What would you do if a customer asked you about a wine you weren't familiar with?
- Would you be able to help unload a large shipment of pallets if needed?
