First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at D.A. Davidson & Co..
Equity Research Associate
Started with a recruiter call, then met with team members. It was mostly behavioral, focusing on sector knowledge and how well you can talk about your interest in equity research. It was a pretty straightforward process. The final round was with the MD, moving from recruiter to associate/analyst, then to the MD.
- What is your motivation for pursuing a career in equity research?
- What makes you stand out from other candidates?
Investment Banking Analyst
Had a phone screen where they asked why D.A. Davidson and why the industry group I was interested in, plus more info about the firm. Then there was a second round with standard behavioral and technical questions. Haven't heard back after the second round. They were hiring for multiple locations, so I think the next step would have been a superday.
- Could you explain the Mergers and Acquisitions process?
Intern
It was a two-stage process: a phone screen first, followed by a panel interview. They didn't ask any tough finance questions, mostly behavioral ones. The panel itself was a bit unnerving, but everyone was really nice. I'd say be ready for a lot of behavioral questions.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What draws you to wealth management in particular?
- Describe a situation where you had to overcome a challenge.
Treasury Analyst
First, I had a hiring manager interview. Then, a call with a business partner I'd be working with. Finally, I met the head of the department for dinner, which also served as an interview. The team seems really nice and has a clear vision and strategy for the company. It's a smaller company with close-knit teams, and they're looking for people who are really committed and will buy into their culture.
- Just basic behavioral questions, no technical ones?
