First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cyera.
Talent Acquisition Administrator
My interview experience with Cyera was great, especially from a TA standpoint. It was really organized but also felt human, which is rare. The TA team kept things moving and communicated clearly throughout. I always knew what was next and everything felt smooth and intentional. You can tell they put thought into the candidate experience. Everyone I talked to was friendly and down-to-earth, not overly formal or robotic. They were genuine conversations. Overall, it was a really positive experience reflecting well on the TA team and the company.
- How do you envision yourself in this position?
Customer Success Engineer
The hiring process for this role spanned about 2-3 weeks and concluded unexpectedly. In total, there were 4 interviews. It was a bit unusual not to have an initial recruiter call to discuss salary and other expectations. The first interview was a 30-minute, fairly relaxed chat with the hiring manager, who didn't ask many questions. The second interview involved two Senior CSEs who conducted a technical assessment that was somewhat challenging. I was surprised to advance to the next stage, a Mock Kickoff presentation, given I didn't feel I performed well on the tech assessment. This presentation was with a different manager who seemed unaware it was my first time presenting a kickoff deck, which was odd. After waiting a week and following up due to an upcoming vacation, I received an invitation for a call with the HR team lead. This call was quite peculiar. She concluded by saying I could expect an offer by the end of the week, but on Friday, I received a standard rejection email. It was all very strange, though perhaps it worked out for the best.
- Can you describe your experience using SQL, regex, and scripting?
Marketing
So I interviewed with Cyera, and while the company seems great with talented people, the interview process itself was pretty rough. It started with a recruiter call that was late and felt super rushed, like they were just ticking boxes and didn't have time for my questions. Then I met with the hiring manager and some team members. They were all really nice and knew their stuff, but the interviews felt kind of all over the place and focused more on whether I fit in than on my actual skills or if I was right for the job. The worst part was after all that, I got ghosted. All the communication from the recruiter was automated, so I had no idea if my messages were even getting through. I get that recruiters are busy, especially at fast-growing companies, but with the tech they have, a simple rejection email would be nice after all the time I put in. Overall, Cyera looks like a good company with good people, but they really need to structure their recruiting process better and be more considerate of candidates' time.
- What marketing programs did you take ownership of previously?
Software Engineer
I had an initial call with HR. Then, I had my first interview, which was a System Design interview split into two parts: explaining a project I developed and a question about tracking files in S3. My second interview was a coding challenge where I had to write an algorithm to allocate compute resources among various customers. I found the coding question quite obscure, which I wasn't a fan of. However, the interviewers were pleasant and knowledgeable. In the end, the recruiter informed me that I didn't get the job.
- Can you explain in detail a project you've worked on using a board?
- Describe how to track files in S3, including any in-depth aspects.
- Develop a method for allocating compute resources to customers based on their needs and growth/shrinkage ratios.
