Customer Success Engineer
The hiring process for this role spanned about 2-3 weeks and concluded unexpectedly. In total, there were 4 interviews. It was a bit unusual not to have an initial recruiter call to discuss salary and other expectations. The first interview was a 30-minute, fairly relaxed chat with the hiring manager, who didn't ask many questions. The second interview involved two Senior CSEs who conducted a technical assessment that was somewhat challenging. I was surprised to advance to the next stage, a Mock Kickoff presentation, given I didn't feel I performed well on the tech assessment. This presentation was with a different manager who seemed unaware it was my first time presenting a kickoff deck, which was odd. After waiting a week and following up due to an upcoming vacation, I received an invitation for a call with the HR team lead. This call was quite peculiar. She concluded by saying I could expect an offer by the end of the week, but on Friday, I received a standard rejection email. It was all very strange, though perhaps it worked out for the best.

Customer Success Engineer
I went through six rounds of interviews. It started with a recruiter chat about my background and career goals, then a behavioral and technical chat with the hiring manager about my experience, problem-solving skills, and technical abilities. The toughest part was the technical panel with senior CSEs, they really dug into deep technical knowledge, troubleshooting, and presentation skills. After that, I had a behavioral and technical interview with a solutions architect, focusing on technical expertise and strategic thinking. Then, a more high-level conversation with the head of the organization, about leadership and company values alignment. The last step was with the head of HR to talk offer details and expectations. Everyone was super nice and smart. The tech panel was hard but a good learning experience. Prep well and you'll do great!
- Questions covered a mix of cloud fundamentals, data concepts, and how to communicate effectively at the executive level.
- Expect questions regarding cloud architecture, data structuring, and strategies for presenting insights to leadership.
Customer Success Engineer
The interview process involved 5 interviews in total, including one with the Hiring Manager, a joint QBR tech panel, two behavioral interviews, and one HR interview that also covered negotiation. The entire process spanned about 4 weeks, with timing being flexible based on availability for both the candidate and Cyera. While generally not overly challenging, the tech panel could feel high-pressure, though I suspect it was mostly self-inflicted. The team was consistently friendly and accommodating throughout, and I had a very positive experience.
- Can you share your experience in customer success?
- What is your technical knowledge like?
- What are your business insights?
