Web Engineer
The hiring process was smooth and efficient. It started with a take-home coding challenge where I had to build an API call using the Serverless framework. After completing that, I advanced to the next stage, which involved meeting the team, presenting my code, and working through architecture and algorithm problems manually. Sadly, I didn't get an offer because they felt my solutions were too complex. Looking back, I think focusing on writing the shortest code using ES6 features like reduce might have been a mistake, potentially sacrificing readability. My advice for future candidates is to prioritize clear, legible code over conciseness, as competitive programming-style solutions can be hard to explain. If I had another chance, I'd use more comments and variables. The company culture seems great, with employees who genuinely love their jobs and the company. Their product is set to revolutionize finance, which is exciting. I'm just really disappointed I didn't make it through.
- Can you describe the differences among various SQL table join types?
- Write a function to identify the missing number in the sequence [1,2,3,4,6,7].
Sales Associate
I found this Sales Associate job opening on my university's job board and applied. HR managed the whole thing smoothly over about four weeks. It started with one or two phone interviews, then I had two in-person interviews at their office. First, I spoke with a current Sales Associate who was pretty chill and asked general stuff. Then, I met with the Sales Manager, who was way more intense and really put me on the spot, which was kinda expected. It wasn't overly difficult, but you definitely need to stay calm when they hit you with tough questions and try to answer concisely. I did get an offer from Currency, but I turned it down for another opportunity. While the company and CEO seemed legit, I got a vibe that this Sales Associate role is a high-turnover position. Also, they kept bringing up these crazy first-year salary figures (over 80k), which felt like a major red flag.
- Can you describe what being coachable means to you?
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
- What previous experiences make you a good fit for this position?
Financial Sales Representative
The phone screening and in-person interviews both felt a bit rushed, unclear, and disorganized. They were quick interviews, not panels. The company is looking for young, recent graduates to hire out of college or who they consider 'coachable.' The interviewer didn't seem very happy or excited to be there, mostly just going through the motions.
- What's your motivation for wanting to join our company?
- What value or skills do you offer to this organization?
- What drives you to get up each day?
Financial Sales Executive
First, I had to do an online assessment. After that, I got a phone call for an interview. The phone interview lasted about 15 minutes. It was kind of like a meet and greet, but they asked specific questions and I had to answer them, not really a conversation.
- Regarding past internships, which one offered the most learning for you, and which one did you like the least?
- In your opinion, what will be the biggest challenge in this role?
- What aspects of this job are you most enthusiastic about?
