First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CRB.
Mechanical Engineer
The interview process was quite smooth overall. There were quite a few emails going back and forth to set up the first interview, but once that was sorted, it went pretty much as I expected. The people leading the interviews asked some good questions to get a sense of my work ethic and how I communicate. I had the chance to meet some of the engineers I might be working with down the line. The management team I met were all pretty outgoing and left a good impression on me.
- Can you describe a time you had a conflict with a coworker and how you resolved it?
- What's your approach when you encounter something you don't know?
- Could you walk me through some of your previous projects?
Project Engineer
I applied online and heard back from a recruiter in about 1-2 weeks. My first call with the recruiter was great, and they scheduled a second call with some managers and someone in the role. That interview also went really well. The first 30 minutes were focused on management and experience questions, and the last 30 minutes were for my questions. They seem to really emphasize their "core values." Unfortunately, I was ghosted by the company afterward. The recruiter only responded after I emailed her multiple times two weeks later, saying they were "re-evaluating the position and its responsibilities but still considering me." I waited three more weeks, then called and left a voicemail, but got no response. I'm very disappointed in the lack of integrity shown by CRB, as I expected much more from them.
- Can you share an example of a project that succeeded and one that failed?
Industrial Engineer
It was a virtual panel interview with four people: a Data Analyst, an Industrial Engineer, someone with an unknown position, and someone from Upper Management. The interview was scheduled for 1 hour and 30 minutes. It was a standard interview plus a technical interview, which I wasn't told to prepare for beforehand. Overall, I think this company could be a great place to work, but they need to improve some things. It was an average interview with interviewers who were not great. CRB should really train their employees on how to conduct interviews that are fair and help the candidate succeed. It felt like I was a step behind because none of the team seemed enthusiastic and they didn't offer any useful feedback. I never got any feedback, even after reaching out multiple times via email and direct message. About 3-4 weeks later, I got an automated rejection email with no explanation. It was hard to tell if the job description really matched what they were looking for in the role after the interview. One panelist was on time, but the other three were a few minutes late. We started with introductions and then went straight into my resume. I gave an overview of my resume, and they asked specific questions to learn more. Then came the technical part where they asked me questions, though the panelists didn't seem to have prepared questions themselves. After an hour and 15 minutes, I got to ask them some questions with 15 minutes left. However, they turned my questions back on me, and I ended up answering them. I did learn some good things from the answers I received, but I felt rushed when asking my questions. It seems like a good company if you're the right fit for them, but their talk about them being the right fit for you is nonsense. The interviewers seemed uninterested, lacked energy, and appeared to have other things on their minds.
- Can you tell me about the lean six sigma tools you have previously utilized?
- What is your background with discrete-event simulations?
- When faced with a specific scenario aimed at streamlining a manufacturing process, what actions would you take?
Instrumentation Engineer
The interview was with Discipline Leads and the Office Manager. They were interviewing multiple candidates at once and switched interviews every hour. It felt more like a cattle call than a real interview because it was so rushed. I ended up repeating the same answers to the same questions multiple times. I never got a chance to discuss the specific job requirements in detail.
- What's your reason for leaving your current job?
- Are you able to work with younger engineers?
- Do you consider input from designers and cadd operators who don't have degrees?
