Shift Supervisor
The interview for the Shift Supervisor position at Crabtree & Evelyn was pretty standard and professional. The managers were helpful and easy to talk to, which made everything feel relaxed and comfortable. They wanted to know about my sales skills and how I deal with workplace issues, like sorting out conflicts between coworkers. They also asked about my schedule, especially for weekends, and what I knew about the company. All in all, it was a good experience where I could show them what I can do and if I'd be a good fit.
- Can you describe a tough problem you faced in your previous job and how you solved it?
Product Manager
I applied online and got a call the next day, with a phone interview scheduled for the following week. The initial call was a bit delayed because the manager wasn't available, and I had to follow up to reschedule. The HR person was really enthusiastic and seemed knowledgeable about the products and strategy, and actually paid attention to my resume. However, I felt they weren't entirely upfront. The manager indicated they were very impressed during the phone call and said I'd interview with the hiring manager the next day. But that didn't happen; I only got an email saying it would be the following week, and then I never heard back, not even a reply to my email. It would be better if they were more direct, explained that there were other candidates, and didn't promise a hiring manager interview during the phone screen only to disappear. They did send a template rejection email weeks later. I got the sense they might be exploring many candidates and might not be completely accurate when describing what they want. Maybe it's a good HR strategy, but I prefer a more realistic and straightforward approach.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
- What motivated you to apply to our company?
- What is your reason for leaving your current role?
Sales Supervisor
Applied online and got a call back for an interview. I had a face-to-face interview with the store manager at the location I applied to. During the interview, the manager cut me off because another person was waiting. She also spoke negatively about past employees and their reasons for leaving. She made it sound like I was interviewing for a leadership role that most people in the store didn't have, but after starting, I found out everyone had the same title. I then had a second interview over the phone with the district manager. It took about two weeks to agree on pay and set a start date.
- Can you tell me about a time you gave great customer service?
- Tell me about a time you dealt with a challenging customer.
- What appeals to you about our brand?
Brand Ambassador
I had a straightforward interview with the store manager. She asked me a bunch of questions about my experience, what I could bring to the team and the store. She also told me all about the company, how the store operates, and the benefits. She got back to me really quickly. After showing me around the store, I had a trial day on the shop floor where I demonstrated how I serve customers.
- What can you contribute to this brand?
- Can you tell me about products you've previously used?
