I applied for this marketing position in DFW through craigslist hoping to get into sports business, sales, and marketing. I sent my resume and got a call the next day to schedule an interview. The first interview was with the marketing manager who went over the company goals and what the job would be like. I got a call the next morning saying I was selected for a second interview. For the second interview, I shadowed the assistant director, who was very knowledgeable about the industry. I learned the company worked with over 110 clients, including sports teams. We went to lunch where my questions were answered, and I asked about my limited sales experience. The assistant director told me he wouldn't make the final decision. My final interview was with the Owner, who asked about my past experience and then offered me the position.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I sent my resume through Careerbuilder and got a call the next day saying I was qualified and had a great resume. I agreed to a quick preliminary interview with what I think was the secretary about some basics. When I got to the office for the actual interview, I saw it was pretty small and looked a bit cheesy. Right away, four other people were there, and two more showed up before I was called in. It felt like they were rushing to get through as many candidates as possible. The interview itself was pretty easy, mostly asking about my past marketing and sales experience. They kept saying how fast you could get promoted, like in 1-3 months. I asked about the pay structure (commission, base/commission, or salary) and the interviewer got really offended, saying that asking that question made him think I had a bad work ethic. Even after that, he asked me to come back for a second, all-day, unpaid interview from 9-5. I also overheard him telling two other candidates to come back at 9 the next day. This made me really hesitant, so I declined.

I got a call after sending my resume in through CareerBuilder, and the person was really nice and asked me some basic questions, you know, like most companies do. They were looking to hire someone full-time, and that's what I was looking for too, so it was a good match. When I went in for the interview, I was actually pretty impressed with the office – it looked really professional and modern, and they even had a flat screen in the lobby. The interview itself went pretty well; the Hiring Manager was nice and treated me with respect.

Got an email and a call from someone named Brooke about my resume and then was asked to come in for an interview. The interview was standard and very basic but informative and calm. It wasn't an atmosphere that calls for any tense muscles. Just be professional. After passing that I got asked for a follow-up interview. It was basically a shadowing of a couple employees where you see the company clients, methods of approach and just seeing how you handle a few negative responses.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • The questions asked were pretty easy. Just do the research a bit and you'll be fine.
