Software Test Engineer
Phonecall to check if you understand the technical requirements. Then an interview to check if you match and have the requirements/experience for testing and what your expectations are. After that, if you qualify, you get an offer.
- Tell me about your previous experiences.
- What experience do you have with testing?
Software Tester
Sales Support Representative
My interview experience was with Lenovo, but I was contracted through CTG. It started well with a nice phone interview with the CTG recruiter. Then, I went to Lenovo HQ for an in-person interview with the sales managers. That interview also went really well; they seemed to think I was a great fit and liked me. They said they move fast and would let me know in a few days about an offer. I really thought I'd get the offer based on how the interview went. But then, two weeks passed and I heard nothing. I messaged the CTG recruiter multiple times, and she usually responded quickly, but this time it took her almost two weeks to reply. I'm not upset about not getting the offer, but it’s not that hard to at least send a generic message to candidates you're not moving forward with instead of leaving them hanging after making them think they are a good fit. I expected better.
- Where do you see your career in the next five years?
IT Recruiter
This was one of the worst interviews ever. The company's recruiter called me and asked a lot of probing questions about my previous employer. They wanted to know why I wasn't working full-time and asked many questions about my education and how I organize it, which had nothing to do with the job. I was asked several intrusive questions about my past work experience, as if they were trying to find fault. After a few days, I received an email stating they had nothing for me or their clients. How can someone in HR make such a statement? It says a lot about the company and their disrespectful treatment of people. If you feel someone's profile isn't a good fit, you can say it's not a match and explain why, but such a blunt response was unnecessary. They automatically assumed I expected the same employment conditions as my previous employer? I'd rather work for a company that evolves with the times.
- Why did you work part-time previously (with the assumption that I was looking for something part-time again, even though I explicitly stated I wanted full-time, one of the many traps)?
- Are you looking for something part-time again (even though I explicitly said I want to work full-time, one of the many traps)?
