First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cogent Infotech Corp.
Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist
The interview process was smooth and efficient, with clear communication from start to finish. The team was professional and made sure to keep me informed at every step. I was impressed by how quickly they closed my profile and moved the process forward. Overall, it was a positive and seamless experience from application to offer. Highly recommend!
- What makes you the right candidate for this role?
Java Developer
My recruiter told me to be five minutes early for the Zoom interview and text them when I was in. The interviewer was a bit late. The person interviewing me was rude and gave almost no feedback on my technical answers. They ended the interview early but made it seem like I was still being considered. The whole interview and application process was weird.
- Can you write a method to check if a number is prime?
Software Engineer
This company's interview process felt like a scam, with HR outsourced to India. Initially, I communicated with an Indian recruiter who was enthusiastic but disorganized. After basic questions, she abruptly ended the call and passed me to a colleague for what I assumed would be a behavioral interview. This second person was rude and asked intrusive, possibly illegal, personal questions about my immigration status and marital life, instead of discussing the company. She demanded a copy of my green card or ID to proceed. Then, I was told to prepare for a Java test over the phone. Naively, I sent my ID. The next day, a technical phone interview was conducted by someone who appeared to be a senior engineer from another Indian company. The 20-minute interview focused on general Java knowledge and methodologies, with no coding or algorithms. I ultimately declined to continue due to the offensive and disrespectful treatment and the inappropriate information requests. About a year later, the initial recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn, which felt creepy and unexplained.
- What is the consequence if the main() method is not declared as static?
Information Clerk
So, I got an email from a recruiter about a job, and then they called me. The recruiter first wanted to know my current salary, and I asked why that was relevant. Then, they asked about my work authorization and requested a copy of it. I told them I couldn't just send over my work authorization details when we're just talking about a job and there's no offer yet. Right after that, the call ended abruptly. It really made me wonder why they'd need a copy of my work authorization before even an interview, and what they planned to do with it. Could be some kind of fraud, I don't know. Pretty unprofessional for someone calling themselves a technical recruiter. Be cautious dealing with them.
- The recruiter asked for proof of my work authorization, which felt suspicious to me.
