First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cogent Infotech Corp.
Java Developer
We went back and forth a few times. The interview was on a Sunday morning and was done over Google Hangouts or Skype. You had to look at the screen to answer questions. There were 20 multiple-choice questions about core Java knowledge or coding snippets, and you had 20 minutes to pick the correct answer. After that, you had to talk about concepts from your resume, like .net mvc, mvc design patterns, comparing java spring and .net mvc, what type safety means, what spark is, what scala is, comparing scala and java, dependency injection, singletons, and entity framework.
- Can you discuss concepts from your resume like .net mvc, mvc design pattern, java spring vs .net mvc, what is type safe, what is spark, what is scala, scala vs java, dependency injection, singleton, entity framework etc...?
- 20 mins MCQs about java
Senior Java Developer
So there are 2 rounds total. First, HR asks basic background questions. Then, there's a technical round. The technical questions are pretty basic; just looking up common Java questions online should be sufficient.
- What's the difference between an interface and an abstract class?
Java Developer
The interview process involved a multiple-choice test followed by a short chat with the hiring manager. He tended to dominate the conversation, especially when I knew the answers, and was quite persistent about the questions I struggled with. I was actually surprised they got back to me. Their email requests for sensitive documents like my passport and driver's license felt really off. I sent one via fax, but I'm worried my personal information might be compromised. I'd advise others to be cautious applying here. They initially seem legit, but then they stop communicating with some applicants (specifically U.S. Citizens who aren't foreign nationals) after receiving your details. It feels very suspicious. Not a trustworthy company.
- Can you explain multithreading in Java?
- How do you approach debugging?
- What are your thoughts on design patterns in Java?
