First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Codazen.
Product Manager
I had a phone screen with the recruiter where we discussed my work background and product management experience. After that, I had a Zoom interview with the Hiring Manager. Then I was given a take-home assignment that took a few hours to complete and submit. I didn't receive any feedback on it, and got a rejection email not long after. The position was still posted for a while, so I'm not sure if they ever hired anyone.
- Can you create a roadmap for a new product?
- Can you project a website design?
Full Stack Engineer
First, we had an informational chat where we went over my background and motivations. Then, there was a Hackerrank test with coding and technical questions, which I had about an hour to finish. After that, we had a 1-hour coding interview via Zoom where I had to share my screen and tackle some coding problems and system design questions. Finally, I had an in-person technical and behavioral interview with the hiring manager.
- I had to build a kanban board with states like Backlog, In progress, and In review, and write the code to add/remove tasks and move them between states.
Software Engineer
The process was polite and courteous. A 30-minute initial screening call involved a pleasant back-and-forth about my work experience and background. A couple of weeks later, I received an email with a technical assessment via HackerRank, which was not too challenging. This was followed by a technical phone screen with a hiring manager and staff engineer, which was also pleasant. Although they did not move forward with my application in the end, it was a relatively painless experience overall.
- Can you start by telling us about yourself?
- Regarding your location, where do you currently reside, and what are your thoughts on relocating?
- Your experience mentions React and JavaScript; could you elaborate on whether you've worked with Java or PHP in your applications as well?
Backend Web Programmer Intern
I sent in my application online and then got an email from HR. They asked me to do a technical assessment within a week. After I finished that, I heard back a few days later for an in-person interview. It was my first interview, so I wasn't ready for the typical HR questions. They mentioned that if they decided to move forward, the next step would be a peer programming session with a developer. I ended up getting an email rejection, which I kind of expected. The HR manager was really nice, and the office seemed like a cool place to work with a good vibe.
- What are some typical HR questions you were asked?
- How would you describe the technical assessment difficulty if you have experience in the job description skills?
