First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
Genetic Counseling Assistant
I had a chance to chat with the hiring manager first, and I got to ask them some specific questions about what the job would be like and what I'd be doing. After that, I met with the genetic counselors who are currently on the team, the people I'd be working with if I got the job.
- Could you tell me why you are interested in genetic counseling?
- Given my current interests, how do you see me contributing to this team?
Medical Education Coordinator
The whole thing took about four weeks. It started with an interview with the hiring manager. Then, there was a second round with a panel of 4 people. After that, there were two more interviews that were final rounds because the physicians couldn't meet at the same time. 75% of the interviews went really well. One of them felt super short, like only 10 minutes, maybe they were just swamped with work. After all 4 interviews, I was bummed to get an automatic email from a no-reply address saying I didn't get the job.
- Can you walk us through your background and experience?
- What would you say are your main strengths and weaknesses?
- What prior knowledge do you have about this program?
Coordinator
The interview process started with a phone screen by the recruiter, followed by a meeting with departmental leadership, and then a final interview with team members. References were also checked extensively. Although everything else seemed fine, the recruiter was very unresponsive, requiring me to follow up at every step. I eventually learned I didn't get the job through the employee portal. I feel that after three interviews, a simple email would have been a more professional and courteous way to inform a candidate.
- How do you embody different company values?
Customer Service Representative
I initially applied for a hybrid cash posting job, but HR called to say I'd be a great fit for CSR II, so I accepted. The interview process involved three back-to-back Zoom rounds. Interviewers repeatedly stated no experience was necessary and praised my customer service background, suggesting higher pay. However, a few days later, HR informed me I wasn't selected due to lacking experience in healthcare, billing, and financing. This was confusing as they had my resume and recommended me for the role, despite claiming I didn't need experience. I suspect this rejection might be related to my religious objections to vaccinations, especially given the contradictory statements about experience requirements.
- What makes you want to join our company?
- Describe a time you faced an overwhelming project. What steps did you take, and what was the result?
