First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Centerview Partners.
Intern
There were 2 zoom interviews for the first round. Then, an in-person super day followed. The first round focused on TMAY, why banking, why Centerview, and technical questions. The super day consisted of technical and behavioral interviews, along with two conversational rounds to assess thinking and experience.
- What's your take on the efficient market hypothesis?
Analyst
it was a pretty standard process, i had to network to get the first round, which consisted of tech and behavioral questions. the second round was purely technical. nothing out of the ordinary in terms of behaviors and technicals, it was straight from the guide.
- Tell me about your basic behaviors.
- Can you explain accretion and dilution?
M&A Analyst
So there were 2 rounds. The first was with an analyst, lasted about 30 minutes, and done over Visio. Then there was a superday, which was basically 3 interviews back-to-back with some senior folks - analysts, associates, and a Principal. Each interview had 3 interviewers, and they were supposed to focus on different things like valuation methods or accounting, but honestly, they all ended up covering both fit and technical stuff.
- Can you walk me through the three financial statements and explain how they are interconnected?
- What are the primary methods used for valuation?
- Could you explain the process of conducting a Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis?
Analyst
Centerview Partners has a two-round interview process. Round one has two 30-minute interviews with an Analyst and Associate, focusing on your resume, experiences, teamwork, and some basic finance/valuation questions. Round two also has two 30-minute interviews, this time with an Associate and an MD, still covering behavioral and basic technical topics to see if you fit the company culture and could grow there. To get ready, look into Centerview, practice answering behavioral questions, and brush up on finance basics.
- Could you give me an overview of your resume?
