Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Centerview Partners.
Investment Banking Analyst
This involved a 3-round process. First, there were two 15-minute fit interviews with an analyst and an associate. Then, two 30-minute technical interviews were conducted with an associate and a principal. Finally, there was an assessment center.
- Can you explain your interest in CVP?
- What motivates your pursuit of Investment Banking?
- Could you share an experience that demonstrates...?
M&A Analyst
So there were 2 rounds. The first was with an analyst, lasted about 30 minutes, and done over Visio. Then there was a superday, which was basically 3 interviews back-to-back with some senior folks - analysts, associates, and a Principal. Each interview had 3 interviewers, and they were supposed to focus on different things like valuation methods or accounting, but honestly, they all ended up covering both fit and technical stuff.
- Can you walk me through the three financial statements and explain how they are interconnected?
- What are the primary methods used for valuation?
- Could you explain the process of conducting a Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis?
Investment Banking Analyst
It was a very technical interview, with some out-of-the-box behavioral questions. The first round was virtual with two interviewers. I didn't make it to the second round. Overall, it was a tough interview. The interviewers were neither nice nor mean, just a neutral experience.
- Could you walk me through a paper LBO, including purchase and exit multiples?
- If your life were a movie, what would its title be?
