I had a phone screening that was quick and easy, where they just asked about me and then explained the role. The first round interview was casual and the interviewer was friendly. The only issue is they said they would follow up the next week but never did, nor did they answer any of my emails until I eventually received an automated message saying they had moved on with another candidate weeks later.

I was referred by a friend at Viacom and connected with a really great recruiter from CBS Interactive. The process started with an HR phone screen, followed by a video interview where I spoke with two peers at the same time. After that, I had separate interviews with the hiring manager and another executive. I felt confident about my chances, but then the recruiter was radio silent for four weeks before finally saying the position was on hold. It was a big letdown after putting in so much effort and getting my hopes up. The recruiter did offer to help me find other roles, but nothing suitable came up then.

They had a first round where you record yourself giving answers to pre-recorded questions and a second-round, live interview. In the second round one, the interviewer started off the interview by saying they were at the very end of the hiring process and all the internship positions were basically full already, which is exactly what you want to hear before an interview that you've prepared for and are excited about. I felt like I was killing it but she was completely disinterested (didn't even look at me the entire time I was speaking to her) and didn't really give me anything to work with. I was contacted via email to set up an online interview and we scheduled a time. The recruiter explained she hired for three programs in the division and wanted to know my interests. I discussed my skills and qualifications and where I thought they fit best. I don't think it went well because I felt there was a disconnect and she didn't seem to understand. She also seemed unprofessional. I sent a thank you email the next day and followed up, but heard nothing back for several days. This was odd since she had reached out about a job I applied for weeks ago. I was surprised to be contacted at all. It felt unprofessional, and while I understand COVID and returning to work might cause issues, I felt disrespected and demoralized. The job is still posted, as are other jobs in her department, and I feel like I don't have a chance.
