First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cato Networks.
Business Development Representative
I had a really bad experience interviewing at Cato Networks. It was unprofessional and disappointing. I had two conversations. The first felt like a good chat, not really an interview. The second one was awkward and I didn't feel like we connected. I didn't get a good vibe from it. I followed up but was ignored. After 3.5 weeks, I asked for an update and they finally told me they were moving forward with another candidate. I'm okay with not getting the job, but it's rude and unprofessional to ghost candidates and not update them promptly. They should be held accountable for this poor treatment of potential hires.

Talent Acquisition Specialist
I wanted to share my experience to help other candidates. I went through a 4-round interview process and was considered the top choice. After that, I had three separate calls with the North America Talent Acquisition Lead about the offer details, but they wouldn't put anything in writing. I was the one reaching out for three weeks. Finally, they said they had 'overestimated' their budget. They mentioned a follow-up after meeting with the CPO, but I never heard back. It's a big red flag when a company gets to the offer stage without a confirmed budget. Save yourself the trouble.

Sales Development Representative
The process started with HR, then the Team Lead, followed by an AE/Simulations round, then a meeting with the VP and Team Lead, another HR touchpoint, and finally the contract. They really made the whole thing super easy, even when they shuffled the sales territories during the interviews. Got a great offer and met some awesome people and saw the offices. It genuinely feels like a great place to work.

Applications Engineer
First, had a quick 15-minute call with HR to align on expectations. Then, a coding interview with the Team Leader where I was asked to implement an LRU cache. After that, I met with the head of the group for a system design question: how to build a system that fetches data about a person from three different sources, each with varying response times. The expectation was to discuss using an async queue and how to aggregate the final results, noting success or failure. Finally, I had a meeting with the Director where we discussed my background, a specific feature I built, challenges I faced, performance issues, and how I addressed them.
- Can you implement an LRU cache?
- How would you design a system to fetch a person's data from three distinct sources, each with different response times, using an async queue and aggregating the results?
