First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cato Networks.
Senior Software Engineer
They had two technical interviews. The first one was great, but the second one was horrible. The interviewer was on his phone, uncooperative, wasted 15 minutes looking for chocolate, expected me to write complex code on paper, and was late by 5 minutes. It was a very negative and poor interview experience.
- Can you implement string search?
- Print all values of a btree in any order.
Software Engineer
Had 2 remote interviews. The first one was with HR where we talked about my experience and knowledge. The second one was technical, they asked me about common algorithms and data structures.
- Tell me about your experience and knowledge.
- What are common algorithms and data structures?
- In different scenarios, which algorithms and data structures would you choose and why is one better?
Software Engineering Team Lead
The interview started with a 5-minute company presentation by the interviewer, which was well done. Following that, I was asked some questions related to management. Then, there were more managerial questions, and subsequently, a design question was posed. However, the interviewer's unprofessionalism was evident as they struggled to present the question clearly. They kept reiterating the question as if I had missed something, and it turned out not to be a design question after all. The focus was primarily on the release process, managing bugs, and handling rollbacks, which is acceptable, but the mislabeling of the question type was confusing. The next day, I received a call informing me that the position had been filled, but they were impressed and offered me an engineer role, which I declined due to the downgrade.
- Can you describe a team conflict you experienced and your resolution strategy?
- Were there any instances where you had to fire an employee?
