So, as a new grad, I applied for this entry-level analyst role at a fintech company that deals with stock market analytics. The interviews were pretty structured and they really wanted to check out my tech knowledge and how I analyze stuff. First, there was an HR call, about 20 mins, where they asked about my studies, my interest in stocks, and why I wanted to join them. Then, I got a take-home assignment where I had to look at historical stock data for some Indian companies, find trends, and then I used Excel to make a report with my findings. After that, the hiring manager had a behavioral interview, asking me about how I handle problems and work in teams, like 'Tell me about a time you worked under pressure?' and 'How do you handle multiple deadlines?'. Then a senior analyst did a technical interview, mostly about the Indian stock market, asking things like 'What goes into analyzing a stock?' and 'How do politics affect stock trends in India?' and 'Difference between primary and secondary markets?'. I also had to give a case study presentation about a recent market event – I picked a policy change's effect on banking stocks and made a PowerPoint. The last round was with the CTO, talking about the company's goals, how my skills fit, and my career plans.

I sent in my application for the role online. The first stage was a chat with HR about general stuff. HR was nice and helpful, asking some common questions. Then came a Technical HR round where they asked about dbms, sql, python, and os, which felt like an average technical interview. The next round was another Technical Interview, this time with someone who seemed to be an employee but was quite rude and arrogant. Even though I applied as a fresher, he acted like I had experience. He was difficult and seemed to think he was superior. It makes you wonder why he's not at Google if he knows so much. He posed very tough questions, the kind that I doubt many freshers could answer. Honestly, that final interview was the worst I've ever been through.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • They asked some questions about databases.
  • They asked some questions about python.
