First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Camunda.
Account Executive
The team was really professional and engaged. The process included an HR screening, a call with the hiring manager, and then a discovery call role-play, followed by an account planning interview. The hiring manager was particularly interested in my approach to the discovery process and how I pinpoint pain points, which was a good opportunity for me to show my skills.

Sales Engineer
The interview process for the Senior Sales Engineer role at Camunda was structured and thoughtful. It started with an intro call, then went to a conversation with another Sales Engineer, then a technical challenge where I had to build and present a Camunda BPMN workflow, and finally some follow-up interviews with sales leadership. Each step gave a good sense of the company culture, how sales and technical teams collaborate, and what the role entails. It was technical but fair, with clear communication and a focus on understanding my technical depth and ability to explain complex stuff to customers. I was really disappointed when they went silent, I never got a rejection or anything, just a link to an interview survey. I liked everyone I talked to and thought I was a good fit, but the abrupt silence left a really bad impression.
- How would you collaborate with Account Executives?
Marketing
The recruiter was really nice and helpful, but I was bummed out because I got rejected without any feedback on my test assignment. They said they were moving forward with candidates who had more closely matching experience. The hiring manager and I had already agreed that I wouldn't have all the experience but could learn it quickly, and I'd already put a lot of time into the test assignment. It would have been fairer to not have been considered for the role at all, or at least to get some feedback on my assignment from the hiring manager.
- The test assignment was done asynchronously, with the hiring manager answering questions within the document as I completed the task.
- Given the company's remote culture, how do you demonstrate your ability to collaborate effectively remotely?
Engineering Manager
The recruiter reached out first and gave a really clear rundown of the job and pay, which was great before jumping into interviews. First up was a 30-min chat with the recruiter to see if my background fit the role. Then, I talked to the Hiring Manager; it was a good conversation with some interesting questions and I shared examples from my experience. After that, there was a live coding session with a senior engineer from a different team. I wasn't totally sure what they were looking for with this one, and the task wasn't super clear. They just wanted the code to work, without much focus on how well it was written. I did what was asked, but then got word they weren't moving forward with my application. I asked for more specific feedback on where I missed the mark, but haven't heard back. Honestly, the job felt more like a Tech Lead role than an Engineering Manager one. The process was organized, but the role's responsibilities didn't seem to align with a typical Engineering Manager's job.
