The interview experience was good, it was like a one-on-one chat about the basics of machine learning. The interviewer started by asking about the difference between supervised and unsupervised learning and then moved on to neural networks. The second part of the interview involved coding, where I had 20 minutes to complete the task. The final part was for me to ask any questions I had about the company.

I applied for Data Scientist but they said MLOps Engineer was a better fit, though I don't have much experience in it. There were five interviews and everyone said it went well. In the sixth interview, the hiring manager, who hadn't seen the results yet, said I was unqualified for MLOps but would be a better fit for the Data Scientist role and he'd set up those interviews. When I asked about the mix-up, the hiring manager blamed the recruiter and the recruiter blamed the hiring manager. Two weeks later, I got an automated rejection. The whole process had terrible communication and no respect for my time.

Overall treated candidates very poorly. First, my interviewers were late. Second, the questions they asked were OVERLY generic and generalized. It almost reflected poorly on them and made them look stupid, though of course they are not. Third, even though the words were nice it was clear from their tone and content that they were aggressive and arrogant. Finally, they asked job candidates to solve their core problem on the phone not even 5 minutes into the call. No icebreaker. No self introduction. No interest or care about how candidates solved their own own problems in the past. Cambia is obviously farming candidates for “free ideas” and “free work.”

Behavioral

I got an email to pick an interview schedule. The talent team approved my time. Then I got another email from an HR person saying they were halting the hiring for this position, putting it on suspension. They told me I was a top pick though. A week later, I received an email stating the position was not moving forward. Another week passed, and I got an email saying my qualifications didn't meet the criteria. It's confusing how they reach out and seem thrilled, only to later say I'm not a fit. I only apply for jobs I meet the criteria for, so that last canned email was insulting and left me with a bad feeling about the company.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • The interview was not conducted because it seems the hiring team is disorganized and they pulled the position after scheduling the interview, providing conflicting information about it.
