My interview process had four rounds with different team members. It started with a recruiter call where they initially had the wrong job title for me, which I had to correct. They kept delaying updates, and I ended up waiting for several weeks. After they told me I was in the final round and asked for references, I didn't get the job offer even though my references were positive. The final update also came via email instead of a phone call.

The whole thing lasted about three weeks. I was contacted on LinkedIn, and although I hadn't heard of this specific role before, I found it really interesting and ended up loving it, becoming really fascinated with the company. I passed all three interviews with flying colors. They even asked for my references early on, and I got really great feedback. Everyone was super kind and warm, not like the usual interviewers who can seem cold. All the signs were pointing towards a good outcome, and I was just waiting for the job offer. A week later, I emailed the recruiter to ask about the status, only to find out the position had been given to an internal candidate. I kind of suspected this might happen, seeing how many people on here mentioned having great interviews but no offers. So, yeah, the job offer notice is still pending.

A recruiter from the company contacted me on LinkedIn after seeing my profile, which clearly shows I work for another publisher. We had a phone interview where they asked a lot of probing questions, particularly about my current company and our publishing methods. They then set up interviews with some of their staff members. After some back and forth to arrange everything, they canceled the interviews right before they were scheduled, saying they had hired enough editors. This felt really shady, and I suspect it might have been a way to get information about their competitors.

The HR person emailed me for a week to schedule a call, even though I said I was available anytime. The first interview was a brief screening with the VP, who was the only one polite and professional. Then, there was a 3-hour final interview. The first person didn't show up, leaving me waiting for an hour. The VP interviewed me again and gave me a problem, but didn't seem to care if I finished or if he looked at my coding. Then, a principal interviewed me and was very rude, picking the language I had to use and asking about my experience while I coded. He ended the interview early, saying I wouldn't finish in time, even though I had finished coding but was struggling with the unfamiliar language's syntax. It felt like a waste of time and requires good anger tolerance.
