& Process

The interview process was pretty organized, with their in house recruiter contacting me, phone screening and then she set up the interviews. Each interviewee gets 2 half-hour interviews each, with 2 different people. The interviews seem kind of quick, and I found that a little tricky to present myself how I wanted to, in that time. However, I imagine they're probably very busy, and it was nice to know they had a system and you were getting the same amount of time as everyone else. The interviewers were both very friendly and conversational and as transparent as they could be. I did not get the job, but the in-house recruiter was kind and said it was still positive and they wanted to stay in touch for future hires in the same position.

I applied online and heard back from the recruiter a few days later. We tried to set up a call, but she missed it. We rescheduled for the following week, and she missed that one too. Finally, we managed to connect on the third try. She asked me some standard questions, told me about the role and the company, and said she'd check with the hiring manager. About three hours later, she called back to say the manager had already hired someone else. Honestly, if she hadn't kept missing our calls for a week, they might have hired a very skilled art director.

The interview process took about two weeks. A recruiter called me for a phone screen the same week I applied. The next week, I had an onsite interview with the Art Resource Director, Chief Content Officer, and Senior Director of Design. They were all nice, but I got an awkward vibe and felt like they were judging my appearance. The 1:1 interviews were quick for a Senior Art Director role, only 30 minutes each. Maybe they were rushing because it was the end of the day. My onsite finished around 5 pm. I emailed the recruiter a thank you note at 7 pm. The next morning at 5:45 am PST, the recruiter emailed me to check my availability. They called at 10 am to let me know I didn't get the job, but didn't give a reason. I appreciated the rejection call, but the decision time was interesting. It felt like a 'no hire' from the moment I walked in. I suspect they might have posted the job to promote someone internal.
