I had a chat with a recruiter first. Then, I met with three people from the company, including the editorial director and a VP. Each of these meetings was about 30 minutes long. Since there's not much info about the company online, meeting in person was really useful. The people I met seemed smart and thoughtful.

A recruiter from the company contacted me on LinkedIn after seeing my profile, which clearly shows I work for another publisher. We had a phone interview where they asked a lot of probing questions, particularly about my current company and our publishing methods. They then set up interviews with some of their staff members. After some back and forth to arrange everything, they canceled the interviews right before they were scheduled, saying they had hired enough editors. This felt really shady, and I suspect it might have been a way to get information about their competitors.

Behavioral Presentation

The hiring process was bad. It started with a recruiter call, then a long in-person and video interview that lasted four hours. They were misleading about the job, advertising one thing but describing another. They want people who will work constantly. They lost interest when they found out I have a family. They claim to have a transparent and fast process, but my follow-ups were ignored by the head of recruiting. It was a really terrible experience.
