& Process

The interviewer was from CallidusCloud (now SAP) and missed my first two interview appointments. She finally called 30 minutes into my time block with no apology. She rushed the interview, and was only interested in my education, not my qualifications. She questioned my Associate's Degree and certificates, calling them "too simple" and my projects "too simple." She questioned my ability to do visual design and asked where I was from, implying it was to judge my motivation for the job. She then asked how quickly I could complete a project without details, stating there'd be no time for research, which is a huge red flag for UX. The entire interview was rude and condescending, so I ended it, stating I wasn't interested in working there due to her behavior. She responded by saying I had no formal education, which is false. I then ended the call. She clearly hadn't reviewed my resume, portfolio, or work.

It was a pretty standard interview process. It started with an HR call, then I met with several people I would have worked with, and some potential supervisors. I thought it was a good interview process because talking to about 6 people gave me a lot of information about the role and the company. This helped me realize it was definitely not for me. The final interview was with an SVP, which was supposed to be a formality, and I was already planning my polite decline. However, he must have heard something he didn't like, or maybe he sensed my hesitation. I didn't get an offer for over two weeks, and they must have offered it to one or even two other people first. So it actually worked out as intended; I learned enough about the role to know I wouldn't want it. By the time I got the offer, I had already moved on. I would be interested in future roles and interviews if something different came up because the interview process was deep and thorough, so a candidate knows exactly what they are getting into. The job was not a fit, but the interview process was smooth (except for the 2+ week wait while they were offering the job to someone else) and professional.

This was the strangest interview I've ever experienced. I was called into the office, and so were many others. We all sat in a conference room and filled out applications while waiting to be interviewed by different managers. The first manager I spoke to wasn't even someone I'd be working with; they apparently wanted to gauge cultural fit. I still had no clue what the job was. I had to ask the second person I interviewed with about the job description, and she didn't even know. They mentioned they have a unique interviewing style, but it was really odd. I was later told I'd need to interview with a Director. I said I was available anytime. That was the last I heard from them, as they were always 'out of town.' From what I've seen online, my strange interview experience at Callidus isn't unique. It's disappointing because I was really interested in the company, but it seemed very unorganized.

The interview process started after meeting them at a career fair, leading to an email for a phone interview. Scheduling was difficult, with three attempts needed. The first scheduled call was missed by the interviewer. The second attempt involved a call during a time I had specified as unavailable. Finally, a third attempt at scheduling worked. Due to the delays, the second phone interview was skipped, and I was invited for on-site interviews that same week. The on-site included three 30-minute interviews, a group discussion with new hires, and lunch. While the lunch and group discussion were fine, the interviews were unusual. In all three interviews, I primarily asked questions about the company and the role, with very few questions directed at me. My resume was briefly reviewed, leaving about 20 minutes for my questions. This led me to believe I might have an offer already, as they showed little curiosity about me. I did not receive an offer and felt it was a waste of time. Two friends had similar experiences, with one even being denied an offer then contacted weeks later by headquarters to restart the process. The company's interview process seems to have significant issues.
