First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec.
Investment Intern
The first interview was about general stuff concerning Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and the internship. Then, I had a chat with HR about my profile, background, and some standard legal/admin things. Lastly, I met with the team for technical questions and to see if I'd fit in.
- Can you outline your education and professional background in relation to this job? What draws you to this opportunity?
- Which subject do you enjoy the most in your studies, and which do you dislike the most?
- Could you provide instances of feedback, both favorable and unfavorable, that you've obtained?
Intern
The interview process was a bit long. I got an invite for an online interview about 2-3 weeks after applying, which is pretty standard. But then they waited a whole month to invite me for a 1-on-1 interview. It's not a complaint, just an observation that it felt slower than other places. They did a good job of making me feel relaxed during the interviews, which I appreciated! I really liked the 1-on-1 because it gave me a chance to talk about my background and what drives me. I also got to ask questions about the industry. After this stage, they tend to take their time with a decision, which can be a bit nerve-wracking.
- What motivates you to continue with projects or work you've already committed to?
Business Analyst
This was for a back office role. There were 3 interview rounds. About half the questions were behavioral and half were technical. They weren't too difficult. The interviews were conducted in English and French. I interviewed with my future colleagues for the second round, and the last interview was with the director.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Data Scientist
There was 1 interview with the hiring manager and his team, a technical interview, and 1 or 2 interviews with the managers of the hiring manager to assess the fit. Throughout the process, an HR representative is involved and keeps you updated in a timely fashion. The process is transparent and efficient.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your background?
- Could you describe a project you're particularly proud of and explain your reasons?
- What would you consider your main strengths and weaknesses?
