The hiring process took over 13 weeks, with long periods of silence after being told I was moving forward. Ultimately, I wasn't offered the position despite feeling my communication was strong and well-received by interviewers. I had relevant experience and asked thoughtful questions. Most of the interviews were behavioral, though some technical questions were asked due to my background. The excel assessment was simple. This company has a questionable reputation, and their disorganization was evident throughout the interview. I received a standard rejection email after completing all stages.

Case Behavioral Presentation

The interview process included an HR interview that was very behavioral and acted as a screening. Following that, there were three 30-minute interviews during a superday, one of which was with the CEO. A case interview focusing on Property Valuation in Excel was also part of the process, lasting about an hour and a half. There was also a presentation component.

I had a really great time interviewing for the Sr. HR Generalist role. The recruiter was super helpful and gave me all the details I needed about the job and especially about the company culture. After that, things moved quickly, and they even scheduled interviews with several people on the same day, which was awesome since I'm currently working and don't have a lot of flexibility for interviews. During my final interview, my phone actually died halfway through (I was so embarrassed!), but when I reconnected, the interviewer was really understanding, which just goes to show their company culture. I spoke with the Head of People, who was so bubbly and easy to chat with, and also really funny, which definitely helped calm my nerves. I also interviewed with other leaders, and it was the same relaxed, conversational vibe. I got feedback quickly after each interview. Honestly, compared to other places I've interviewed, Bowery was a breath of fresh air.

So, there were 6 interviews total. First was with the hiring manager, then a technical one with a Product Manager, then two more Product Managers, followed by two designers, then some engineers, and finally the Head of Product. The process seemed logical, but there were definite red flags I should've noticed. A random Product Manager showed up for one interview when it wasn't who I was supposed to meet, and I got no warning. They were also super unprepared and unprofessional. The designer interviews were alright. For the engineering interview, one person was supposed to be there but apparently left the company, and the other engineer was completely clueless and unprepared – a total waste of my time. I'm still not sure what the point of the Head of Product interview was, another complete waste of time.
