Behavioral Technical System Design

I applied in November and got an email to schedule an interview in February. The process started with an initial recruiter screen with a technical recruiter. Then, I had an interview with the Hiring Manager. After that, it was a virtual onsite with system design and architecture interviews, and a product discussion. The technical recruiter wasn't very friendly, just asked a lot of questions without introducing himself or the company. He also refused to give a salary range. I only made it to the hiring manager call before getting an automated rejection email.

First, I had a call with a recruiter who looked over my resume and asked about my interest in the role. Then, I had a Zoom meeting with the Hiring Manager. After that, I met with a panel of four people who I would be working with. This meeting lasted a little over two hours. Finally, there was a 45-minute Zoom technical screening where I was given a LeetCode Medium/Hard question. I think for a role that doesn't involve daily coding, it would be better to test with real-world scenarios relevant to the job, rather than LeetCode. While the overall experience was good, I don't think LeetCode is the best way to assess technical skills. A take-home problem similar to daily tasks or a screen-sharing session to debug and fix implementation issues would be more appropriate.

Behavioral

Applied for the role and got an email the next morning for a 15-minute recruiter call. The call happened a week later and went for 30 minutes instead of 15. It was a standard interview asking about why Bolt, what I know about the company, and my experience. The recruiter liked my background with 2 major tech companies. Three days later, I got a message that the hiring manager wasn't interested because I didn't have experience supporting Finance and Legal teams (G&A), which didn't make sense as I mentioned I did. The initial message included a Google Drive link with details about the HR team, benefits, and openings, but the document seemed amateurish and incomplete. I feel like I dodged a bullet with this company.

Behavioral Technical

It was a pretty disorganized interview process overall. We began with a 15-minute speed interview that was basically just introductions. They also told me after the interview started that it was for a different role than what was advertised, not before. Next was a virtual onsite with three team members. The questions were standard, but most team members had only been with the company for less than 4 months. The worst part was they said they'd let me know by the end of the week, but it took a full weekend and two more business days after I followed up to find out they chose another candidate. The lack of timeliness and disorganization was evident throughout.
