First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BNP Paribas Cardif.
ML Engineer Intern
Business Management Controller
Quick and very clear process. The people were attentive and answered all types of questions. We had the opportunity to converse in several languages to assess language switching quality, evaluate skills, and discuss what we can offer the company and its future. The HR person was very pleasant, with quick responses and clear explanations.
- What will I bring to the company? What's my differential?
Software Engineer
First, they look at your resume, cover letter, and anything else you sent like a portfolio or GitHub to see if you fit. Then, there's a quick 15-30 minute call, maybe phone or video, with a recruiter or HR person. They just want to chat about your background, your work history, and why you want to work there. They'll probably ask why you're interested, about your experience, and what salary you're looking for. This is to make sure you meet the basic requirements and would be a good fit for the team.
- What's your experience with Spring and Spring Boot?
- Tell me about your experience with Microfrontends.
- What's your background with Angular?
R&D
Had two interviews: First was a general interview on technical skills (machine learning in my case), my background, and the company/offer. Communication was a bit tough, but the interviewers were clearly qualified. Second interview was a 'case study' where the recruiter went into detail about the teams/offers and assessed my level using case studies. If you read and understood the articles well, it went fine, the key was to keep communicating with the interviewer. The recruiter gave updates on my application status within the timelines he indicated.
- What is overfitting, is it desirable, and what techniques do you know to reduce it?
- Given situation X with data Y and problem Z, what approach would you propose to solve problem Z, what drawbacks do you see, how to remedy them, and how to evaluate the quality of your approach?
