First, there was a 20-minute screening call with the recruiter covering basic personal info. Next, an online assessment with easy LeetCode problems. Finally, a final interview with a software manager who seemed pretty uninterested. It's these managers who decide on the spots, not a hiring manager, so definitely give it your best. These interviews can depend on the interviewer, but mine touched on things like JS errors, SQL queries, and terminal commands.

  • Can you explain what a left outer join does?
  • Which terminal command do you use to find your current directory?

Behavioral Technical Coding System Design

The interview was fun. I started with a talent acquisition call, mostly reviewing my resume and confirming my experience. This led to a second interview with the Software Engineering Manager, focusing on object-oriented concepts. The third round was a coding exercise to develop a deck of cards. The fourth round revisited object-oriented concepts and algorithmic thinking. The final interview with the Engineering Manager covered advanced topics such as code review, error tracking, and code simplification for user experience. Coding was primarily limited to the deck of cards exercise and a bit of code review. It's important to be solid on object-oriented design, API creation, and system/code troubleshooting. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and responsive. It's okay not to know every answer; ask clarifying questions and don't stress if you can't figure it out. Studying beforehand is key. Good luck! Note: Interviewers mentioned they recently changed their interview format, so older experiences might not be up-to-date.

First there was an HR call. Then, there were three quizzes, and a question about your favorite product and how you'd make it better. The third round involved a root cause analysis, an analytical part, and a product sense part. Finally, the Managerial Round included questions about Flipkart's architecture, more analytical questions, and a discussion about your MBA project.

Behavioral Technical

I interviewed with Blackhawk networks and it was a pretty disappointing experience. They initially said they were looking for a UI automation engineer, but then their recruiter called me a few days later to say they actually needed an API automation engineer. It’s kind of worrying how uncoordinated the recruiters and interviewers were, it doesn't look good for the company. Candidates need to know what job they're interviewing for, and this kind of mixed message is just confusing. Hopefully, Blackhawk networks sorts this out for future candidates.

  • How do you handle disagreements with your manager and try to convince them of your perspective?
