I had one of the weirdest screening calls ever. The invite said it would go deep into my experience, but they didn't ask anything about my background or skills. It was just a quick rundown of the job and then goodbye. They've reposted this job a lot for just one role in Australia, and there are tons of applicants. It honestly feels like they're just casting a wide net, maybe even for a role that isn't real. Whatever it is, it's not professional and doesn't respect candidates' time. Other people have noticed this too.

So, the interview process with Beyond Pricing for the Frontend Developer gig took about 1-2 months, and it was pretty structured. It kicked off with a screening, then I had to do a take-home assignment that covered frontend and also some backend stuff. The system design part, which I thought would be more frontend-focused, actually dove deep into backend architecture, which was kind of a surprise but cool. The last interview, with the manager, I figured would be all about soft skills, but surprise, it had a LeetCode-style coding challenge, which they didn't mention beforehand. It was longer than I expected, but honestly, it was a good learning experience and showed they really care about technical skills and how you solve problems.

honestly, it feels like they make things very difficult. You don't know the product, you haven't had any training, nothing. Just by reading the information on the website, you have to prepare a presentation and be able to answer all the questions that three interviewers ask you at the same time. It seems exaggerated what they ask for. The first interview is okay, 30 minutes on Zoom. The second interview is so-so, also 30 minutes on Zoom. Then for the third, you have to do a presentation and an email, like a role-play, with three interviewers. Honestly, I don't think all this is necessary if, in the end, you're going to have to learn everything about the company once you start working there. The hours you invest in making the presentation, reading everything they ask for, only to be told no without any real explanation, doesn't seem right.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview process started with an HR round. Then I had a round with a manager who was very nice and recommended me to move forward. The next stage involved a presentation on a SaaS product, ideally related to the rental industry, though mine wasn't. I passed this and proceeded to two back-to-back rounds with no break. I felt a bit rushed in the first of these, but the second went very well, and the panelist said she'd recommend me and that I'd meet the CEO. Ultimately, I was rejected, but the people were really friendly and made me feel welcome, making me want to work there.
