It was fun and easy. They asked questions about my past sales career. The second interview was with the sales manager and for the final round, I had to create a demo pitch for Airbnb. Pretty easy overall.

Had a first discovery chat with HR a few days after applying, to learn more about the Company and the role. Then had a follow-up call with my future manager. I was asked questions about my background, sales experience and motivation to join. Next, I had to prepare a product DEMO and present it to some team members. After the DEMO, I had a casual 30-minute chat with team members. In the final stages, I met the Sales Director and the founder. I really enjoyed the 2-way conversation, it felt like a natural discussion, not an interview. I learned more about the company and understood the drive and passion of the people there.

I applied for the Account Executive I role in August 2021, but got an email saying my resume wasn't a match. I tried again in September, but their system said I'd applied too recently. So, I applied for a different sales role, and a recruiter reached out about interviewing for Account Executive I. My experience with Beyond took over 6 weeks and was a bit winding, but overall I was impressed by their employees and had a good experience with the recruiter. However, I wasn't too impressed by the process itself. Here's how it went: First, a 30-minute recruiter screen, then a 30-minute Director of Sales screen, followed by a 30-minute Sales Manager screen. After that, a 30-minute mock product demo. Then, I met with the Director of Sales again, who suggested I might be better suited for a Sr. BDR role (a step down) instead of AE, and we had a 30-minute discussion about it. After that, a 30-minute Founder/CTO screen, a 20-minute pre-offer discussion, and finally, I got rejected via phone by the recruiter. They then had a 30-minute post-mortem discussion with the Director of Sales. It felt like a lot of interviews for an AE role, and I think they could combine the Director and Sales Manager screens. I didn't have enough time to ask all my questions, and the interviews felt repetitive. While I enjoyed talking to everyone, Beyond isn't very efficient in assessing talent. Also, I sent 6 emails to my interviewers and got no response, which is unprofessional. The recruiter was surprised by this, suggesting everyone is overworked. My experience was unique because my interview track changed mid-process from AE to Sr. BDR. I was initially disappointed but accepted it as joining the company in a sales role was my main goal. The Director of Sales mentioned I did well on the demo and could learn the AE role, but then it was confirmed I'd be interviewing for BDR. Mercifully, I didn't have to do another demo. The Founder/CTO asked mostly about my Customer Success experience. Overall, I felt a lack of coherence in the process, likely due to limited bandwidth and redundant steps. A few more points: the interviews can be too casual, feeling like 'get to know you' sessions without challenging questions. The process structure should be clearer from the recruiter, with the intent of each interview stated upfront. They should also identify ideal roles for strong talent if there's a mismatch. The Director of Sales was a great person who salvaged the experience. I hope Beyond makes improvements.
