It was a 30-minute Zoom chat with HR. We talked about my background and what I'm looking for in the future. They asked about my work history, education, previous research, and what I could bring to the company. We also covered salary expectations and my availability to start. It felt pretty friendly and casual.

This interview process was a total mess. I applied in October and went through interviews in November and December. There were four interviews in total: one with a recruiter, one with two team members, one with the hiring manager, and a final one with the VP. I made sure to send a thank-you email after each one. After the team member interview, one of them mentioned I'd 'be hearing good news.' When I didn't hear from the recruiter, I followed up a week later, and she set up the next steps two days after that. The VP's interview seemed to go well, and I was told the recruiter would be in touch. I waited a week and then reached out to the recruiter again, mentioning other offers and asking for an update. Still no response. Another week passed (making it two weeks since my last interview), and I followed up again, stating Best Buy Health was my top choice, I'd declined one offer, and asked for an extension on another. I never heard back from the recruiter at all – no update, no decision, nothing. It was incredibly unprofessional and frankly unkind. They kept me hanging while possibly waiting on another candidate, never communicating. They lost a good candidate, and I won't apply again. It also seemed like the interviewers weren't coordinated, as many questions were repeated across interviews.

I applied for the Claims Billing Analyst position on September 30th. A few days later, I got an email to schedule an initial phone interview. After that, I was told the hiring managers would be calling people for a second interview that Friday, and that the job would start October 30th. When Friday passed without a call, I assumed I didn't get it. My application status in the candidate portal was still 'under review'. The next week, I contacted a recruiter and they said the screening was still happening. I waited a few more weeks with no word. I reached out one last time and was told the hiring process was delayed and the start date pushed back. I was promised an update later that week (October 31st), but never heard back. I eventually got an automated rejection email on November 23rd, two months after applying. The whole experience showed a lack of organization and disregard for candidates' time.

So it was a group interview first, then we did a tour of the place, and after that, there was an individual interview. Most people there had previous call center experience, but I came from retail with a focus on customer service, and I ended up getting the job. The group part seemed to be about how we interacted with each other and the potential bosses. Just make sure you smile, be polite, and try to stand out! Great Call really likes to hire bright, and often overqualified, people. For instance, I have over 4 years of retail management experience, and someone else hired has phlebotomy experience. There are really smart people all around me here!
