First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Benevity.
Financial Operations
I applied for a permanent position and contacted someone I knew on the team. They informed me that the role had become a contract position (which wasn't stated in the job posting at the time) but mentioned I would have an initial interview. About 3-4 weeks later, a recruitment coordinator contacted me to get my availability for 3 time slots. My interview was scheduled for 2 days later. However, this interview was canceled just 9 minutes before it was supposed to start because an offer had already been extended to another candidate. The recruitment coordinator sent me an email about it while I was waiting in the virtual interview room. Fortunately, I checked my emails after a few minutes. For a company that emphasizes its values, I expected better. This didn't show much respect for candidates or even for the person who referred me. Even if the outcome is the same (finding other candidates better suited for the role), I'm really not impressed with how candidates are treated.
- Prepare questions and provide examples using the STAR method.
People Experience Manager
After applying, the recruiter reached out to schedule a 45-minute interview. They sent over some materials to help prepare for behavioral questions, but only a couple of the questions were like the examples, so be ready for different types of questions. The interview was a video call directly with the recruiter, no initial screening call. They ask a lot of questions in the 45 minutes, including time for your own questions. The interviewer mispronounced my name three times and didn't introduce themselves, so it felt rushed. They didn't offer common accommodations like pasting questions in chat, pausing, or rephrasing, which might be tough for neurodivergent candidates. Questions were sometimes double-barreled or verbally tricky. After the interview, I got a rejection email and never heard back after asking for feedback.
- Can you go over your resume and explain your reasons for leaving each past role?
Sales Operations Specialist
I was ghosted after reaching the final stages! The recruiter said she'd get back to me, and the interviewers said they'd have a decision in a week, but it's been over a month with no word. I tried following up multiple times; the recruiter asked for 10 more days once and then went silent. The interviews themselves were great; the hiring manager was super nice and knowledgeable. A rejection email would have been fine, but getting ghosted after 3 hours of interviews and a take-home assignment, with no response despite following up three times, really leaves a bad taste. It turns out there's only one recruiter for North America, which is a major red flag. I'm over it and wouldn't advise anyone to waste their time.
- Tell me about yourself and your experiences.
- Can you describe your skills in data analytics?
- How proficient are you with Excel?
Technical Support Specialist
The whole thing took about 2 months from applying online to getting the offer. First, HR emailed me for a 1-hour screening call, which was online and focused on behavioral questions using the STAR method. About two weeks later, I went into the office for a face-to-face interview with my potential manager and a senior team member. This part was more about my background, technical skills, and team fit. HR mentioned a possible third interview with other team members, but that didn't happen. I heard back from HR via email 2-3 weeks after the last meeting with the offer. They also mentioned it can take another 1-2 weeks for the offer to get fully approved and sent over. Overall, it was a smooth process, and they did a good job keeping me updated. Even though it took a while, I appreciated it because it showed they were really thinking through their decision.
