We toured the office and then I sat in the conference room for the interview. It was about 30-45 minutes, and felt more like a conversation. I interviewed with one of the Managing Directors, and it was a very relaxed atmosphere. The office environment seemed very nice.

Behavioral Technical Case

So the interview was pretty standard, you know, just talking to different people on the team about what the job is and what they do. They also gave me a practical thing to do where I had to figure out the Adjusted EBITDA (AEBITDA), to see if I could do financial analysis. It was pretty normal overall, but they wanted to see if I could talk to people and if I knew my stuff.

Behavioral Presentation

The first call was more like a discovery chat than a formal interview. Had a good talk with some senior leaders about the role and what it involves. They invited me to the main office to meet the team and have a more official interview, but after that call, I never heard back. I followed up with the recruiter who set it up, but still nothing. Turns out she left the company, and wasn't there a few weeks later. A new recruiter said she'd get the CEO to call me, but neither she nor anyone else ever got in touch. My emails after that also went unanswered. It's really important to have good communication throughout the recruiting and hiring process, and it was definitely lacking here.

Behavioral Other

I applied online and got a call about a week later to set up an interview. I then had an in-person interview with a managing director and a transaction director. They were nice, but the interview felt a bit strange. The job isn't really about analytics; it's more about reaching out to potential clients to see if they want to sell their businesses. A team in Florida handles deal origination. This "M&A" analyst role involves making calls until businesses are sold. I tried to highlight my Excel and fund management skills, but I suspect they're actually looking for someone with marketing experience.
