The initial call felt more like a casual chat to get acquainted with the company and the role, rather than a formal interview. We had a good conversation where I learned more about the company and the position. I was told I'd hear back to schedule another call and was asked if I'd be interested in visiting their corporate offices in Florida. However, after multiple attempts to reach out to HR and the leadership team, I never got a response.

I applied online and got a call about a week later to set up an interview. I then had an in-person interview with a managing director and a transaction director. They were nice, but the interview felt a bit strange. The job isn't really about analytics; it's more about reaching out to potential clients to see if they want to sell their businesses. A team in Florida handles deal origination. This "M&A" analyst role involves making calls until businesses are sold. I tried to highlight my Excel and fund management skills, but I suspect they're actually looking for someone with marketing experience.

It was a really fast process. I only had one phone call, then I went in for an in-person meeting. The questions weren't super hard, mostly just trying to figure out what I was interested in and if it matched what Benchmark was looking for.
