First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BBS, Inc..
Recruiter
The interview process was really easy. They don't ask a lot of questions, and you're very likely to get the job. Just make sure you're prepared and ready to learn. There's no commission, only profit sharing. The work is quite straightforward, but expect to do more than just your job duties.
- Can you discuss your previous roles and experience?
Account Manager
Saw that BBS was hiring from an Ad on Boston.com and checked out their website and social media. Noticed Boston Globe ranked them #3 in Top Places to Work Boston. After submitting my resume, Micaela called me a few hours later. She was super nice and sent me company info and directions. It's a 3-step interview process, which I think is really effective. The first round is a 20-minute meet and greet. The second round is where you sit down with a full-time employee. I think this is a great way to see if you'd be a good fit, and it gives you an employee's perspective, not just what a hiring manager might say to fill a role. The third round was with a different hiring manager. I got the call at the end of the week and was offered the job.
- Can you describe your leadership style?
- What are one or two things you would change about your current workplace?
Sales Representative
I saw the company on job sites and did my own research. I wanted a career with growth and sales/marketing experience. I scheduled an interview. The office was easy to get to and the lobby was nice with TVs showing ESPN. The hiring manager asked me random questions about my resume, and the interview lasted about 30 minutes. The second interview was with a top account manager where we discussed the business details like expansion, growth, pay, benefits, and travel. I got offered the job by the end of the week.
- Tell me about what you enjoyed most about your previous job.
- What did you dislike the most about your last role?
Account Manager
I was contacted about an Account Manager role. I clarified if it involved door-to-door sales, and was told I'd have an office and work as a database manager. I had an initial interview where it turned out they were looking for someone to train others in sales, despite my resume having "IT" marked. This felt like a communication issue or a potential scam. The second interview was more informal, discussing career paths and the initial 2-6 week phase with a $300/week or 100% commission structure, with potential to own a company within 2 years. They asked me to start the next day, but I declined.
