It was a straightforward interview with a few situational questions and a quick assessment during the interview itself. Nothing too complicated, just simple accounting principles. The interview wasn't too tough if you know your stuff, and they do require Excel knowledge.

I had a 45-minute interview over Teams with 3 interviewers. HR sent me the first 5 questions beforehand, which were about how I'd handle various work scenarios. The last question came after I answered those 5, and it was about describing an electrical schematic diagram.

It began with a single virtual panel interview round. The manager wasn't very tech-savvy, but we managed. Apparently, no one was hired because the job was posted again a few weeks later. I reapplied, even though I had a bad feeling about it. The second interview involved flying myself from Chicago to Oakland. I met mostly the same panel, but with one new person who, I found out later, was able to transfer into this role they were interviewing for. I could tell something wasn't right and felt they were just going through the motions, creating a really unwelcoming atmosphere. I wouldn't have been so upset with their actions if it had just been another virtual meeting, which would have saved me hundreds of dollars in travel.

It took 5 months. I submitted my application and was later called for a test. Keep in mind that usually around 3000 people apply when a position opens up. I passed the test, and about a month after that, I took the personality test. Then, there was a panel interview where both union and management representatives asked basic questions. A month later, I completed the Agility test (you'll pass as long as you can step over the 3rd rail cover, even some larger individuals work there). The entire process spanned 5 months.
